The FOUNDERS

  • Amanda Clark earned her MBA with a specialization in Environmental and Sustainability Compliance, as well as a BA in Environmental Science with a concentration in Policy. She currently works as the Natural Foods Manager at Guido’s Fresh Marketplace in Great Barrington, MA. With a decade of experience at the market, she holds a prominent managerial position, overseeing a team of 30 members and spearheading collaborative projects to achieve business objectives.

Amanda's dedication to sustainability goes beyond her professional role. During her time as a Sustainability Intern at Assumption College, she led various initiatives to implement sustainable practices in the dining services department. Additionally, as a Nutrition Education Intern at Community Harvest Project in Grafton, MA, Amanda developed an engaging curriculum to educate children about nutrition, health, and environmental awareness.

With a profound passion for sustainability and a commitment to making a positive impact on the environment, Amanda seamlessly integrates her expertise into her vision for ZILCH. Drawing from her firsthand knowledge of the inner workings of a natural foods marketplace, coupled with her MBA education and unwavering dedication to sustainability, she is breaking new ground as a zero-waste entrepreneur in Western Massachusetts.

  • Bruce Gardiner (1947-2023) Bruce met Amanda during his 10 years at Guido's Fresh Marketplace, where they discovered a shared interest in sustainability, health, wellness, and nutrition. He was a mainstay of the produce team, and was an avid gardener and cook himself. He was well-known for his culinary recommendations for customers seeking recipe advice and for his unique sense of humor—he could never resist an opportunity for a pun. Prior to his work at the marketplace, he had a long career as an organizational development and management consultant. He co-founded The Task Group and worked with the distinguished international consultant group Kepner and Tregoe for many years. He was a dedicated mentor to those launching a project or business venture, and ZILCH was his latest partnership. The values and vision of ZILCH are a tribute to Bruce’s hope for humanity and our planet.
